At our firm we provide clear, upfront details about our rates and fees so you understand your financial commitments without any hidden surprises. Please note that legal proceedings naturally involve some uncertainty, and precise outcomes or timelines cannot be guaranteed. Terms and Conditions apply!
Part 1
Our initial consultation fee is competitively priced at XCG 130,- for civil cases and XCG 100,- for criminal and administrative cases. This fee includes a 15-minute meeting with one of our attorneys to review your case. Any additional consultations are billed at our standard hourly rate.
Part 2
Minimum fees – We maintain a minimum fee policy for all our legal services. For civil and criminal cases, the minimum fee is XCG 2.000,- while for administrative and immigration cases, it is XCG 850,-.
Hourly rate – Our attorneys typically charge XCG 500,- per hour (which includes a fixed 7% office charge and 6% sales tax). However, the hourly rate may range from XCG 400,- to XCG 850,- depending on the case’s complexity, urgency, and the attorney’s level of experience.
Administrative fee – Our minimum fees include a one-time administrative fee to cover processing costs. In civil or criminal cases, this fee is equivalent to our hourly rate. For immigration or administrative cases, it ranges from XCG 450,- to XCG 800,- depending on various factors, and is incorporated into the stated minimum fees.
Part 3
We require a retainer fee which will be used to cover our hourly rate, but also necessary expenses such as court fees and related costs. The retainer amount is determined based on the complexity and duration of your case, typically ranging from XCG 1.500,- to XCG 5.000,-.
Part 4
For frequently requested services such as an uncontested divorce, filing a petition for residency or work permit, or handling a standard administrative objection (bezwaarprocedure), we offer a fixed fee structure. For more complex matters, our billing is based on an hourly rate. We are however open to discussing a price ceiling.
Part 5
Our clients are responsible for any additional costs incurred during a case, including court fees, filing fees, and expenses for investigations or expert witnesses. We are committed to transparency and will always discuss and seek your approval for any significant charges on your behalf. Other potential costs include registry fees, travel expenses, bailiff charges, and courier fees.
Topic A
Q: What should I expect during the initial consultation?
A: During your initial consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to explain your case and share your desired outcomes. Our attorney will ask detailed questions to gain a complete understanding of your situation and then provide you with a summary assessment that outlines available options, potential strategies, and any risks involved. This meeting also covers the drafting of an engagement letter and a discussion of associated costs.
Q: How does the consultation help me decide on proceeding with your services?
A: The consultation is designed to give you a clear picture of your case and the services we can offer. With a detailed overview of your options and a transparent discussion about costs, you’ll be well-equipped to determine if our legal services meet your needs.
Topic B
Q: Do you offer a ‘No Cure No Pay’ arrangement?
A: No, we do not operate on a ‘No Cure No Pay’ basis. Although this arrangement is legal in our jurisdiction, we do not offer it in order to maintain transparency and uphold our ethical standards.
Topic C
Q: What is your policy regarding retainer fees?
A: We require a retainer fee for most cases, which serves as an advance payment for legal services and covers necessary expenses, such as court fees. This fee is held in trust and billed against as work is completed, ensuring a smooth process and preventing potential payment disputes.
Q: What happens if the total legal expenses exceed the initial retainer fee?
A: If the costs and expenses associated with your case exceed the initial retainer, your attorney will request additional funds. This policy ensures that your legal matter proceeds without interruption and that all necessary services can be provided effectively.
Topic D
Q: Who is eligible for subsidized legal aid and how does it work?
A: Our firm offers services based on subsidized legal aid (kosteloze rechtskundige bijstand) for individuals in prison or for those with incomes below certain thresholds. In these instances, the government covers most of your legal costs, though you may be asked to contribute a portion. For further details on eligibility and the application process, please contact the Ministry of Social Affairs.
